5.0 out of 5 stars. Great heavy bootVerified Buyer Reviewed by Dave from TN on Thursday, July 9, 2020I was looking for a heavier backpacking boot and really like these. I have owned asolo in past and found them good quality. I have broke them in gently around house and went on 4 mile hike with no issues.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Hot Spots on TongueVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from OH on Saturday, June 20, 2020These had some spots on the upper part of the tongue that pressed uncomfortably on my right shin. Asolo makes good stuff though so I didn't give up on trying another pair. Another reviewer noted that the laces go thru the tongue one notch above the "quick" lacing hooks....I didn't think that would be an issue, but it turned out to be a little tricky to lace them up. I ordered the similar Asolo Neutron model and that pair resolved both of these matters.

3.0 out of 5 stars. An Awesome bootVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Connecticut on Thursday, December 5, 2019But the boot was no way shape or form a WIDE boot. It had a paper tag on it saying Wide Fit. But no where on the boot itself did it say it was for a wide foot. One glance at the vibram sole I could tell it would never be a boot I could wear. Too bad!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great fit and comfortVerified Buyer Reviewed by Whatskraken VT from Vermont on Tuesday, November 19, 2019I ordered a size 9 1/2 but found the boots were a bit too tight so I returned them and got a size 10 which fit so much more comfortably. Thanks Sierra for easy and convenient return policy! I really like the lacing system, there is a pair of locking eyelets which help lock down the lower part of the boot before lacing up past the ankle. Overall impression is that the TPS Equalon is a solid well made boot that will perform well on the trail but I find it comfortable enough to wear around town on occasion. The sole is sturdy and provides excellent traction, my first trail hike was 2 miles in snow and ice and I had no issues. The boots provide excellent ankle support. I will be using micro spikes with these boots for winter hiking. I can recommend these Asolo boots without hesitation.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Solid Hiking BootVerified Buyer Reviewed by TJ PDX from Portland on Saturday, November 9, 2019Always happy to find Asolo hiking boots at Sierra Trading Post. Solid shoe that's comfortable, durable and of good quality. Oddly, my husband has owned three pair of these shoes, and this time he had to switch to a half size larger.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Most thoughtful design of all Asolo I ownReviewed by Happy Hiker from Bay Area, CA on Saturday, June 8, 2019I have many pairs of Asolo backpacking boots. Some are better than others and I prefer them over other brands for backpacking boots. The best feature design of this pair is apparently the complaint (for those newbies who don't really backpack) of the people who don't know how to use it: The first set of hooks lock the laces so that the toe-body area can be adjusted independently from heal-ankle. This is for those who hike in rough terrain with elevation changes; together with heal-lock lacing, this is the most comfortable and secure pair without to rid the annoyance of lace adjustments going up-hill or down-hill. I just hiked a one day 23 miles through 2 mountain ranges with elevation gain-loss of over 4,000 feet in them. They were fantastic. My soles were sore because these are not light as trail runners.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Not sureVerified Buyer Reviewed by SJG from NYC on Monday, February 11, 2019This is a fantastic price on a legit gore-tex backpacking boot. They are well made. Still I sent them back because of a small issue that drove me crazy. There is a loop in the tongue to thread the laces through. This is normal. However, on these boots the loop is above the point where the laces switch from eyes to hooks. It is incredibly annoying to get the laces around the first set of hooks and then tighten them properly and still maintain tension when looping them around the second set of hooks while the laces are threaded through the tongue loop. This may not bother you. If you only put the boots on once a day maybe you won't mind. Of you can skip the loop in the tongue. But if you want to use the boots as designed and you take the boots off/on frequently or with cold hands or gloves, this is going to drive you crazy.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Good deal on Gore-TexVerified Buyer Reviewed by Steve from Raleigh, NC on Wednesday, January 23, 2019Haven't broken them in yet. Last pair the sole separated from the shoe -- reading that it is common with the Asolos. But at this price, I figured I would give them another try.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great BootsReviewed by Dsharpe from Boise, ID on Monday, November 12, 2018Replaced my Hi-Tec boots as they have gone down in quality over the years. These appear to be well made, good fitting and secure boots. The insole does not have the cushion as one might expect, but there is a good chance that after a dozen more wears, it will mold better to the foot. They are heavy, but these are my hiking/winter bicycle shoes. Warmth is most important to me and these will a great upgrade.
