4.0 out of 5 stars. All About BreathabilityVerified Buyer Reviewed by Wely 95.5 fm from Wisconsin on Saturday, February 9, 2019Very nice...light weight and super breathable. I have never owned any type of insulation that breathes like Polartec Alpha does. Great for cold weather high output activities. At this price it is a no brainer. Not sure about it's long term durability, but we'll see. I am 5'9" 170 and bought the XL which fits nicely.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice JacketVerified Buyer Reviewed by Fly fisherman from Yellowstone on Monday, January 21, 2019Really a nice well made jacket but it runs small. I'm 6' 200lbs and normally wear a large but some comments made in reviews convinced me to get a XL and I'm glad I did since it just fits. I will wear it more in the spring & fall before the real cold weather sets in.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Really nice...Reviewed by mmp1953 from Connecticut on Saturday, January 5, 2019Very nice jacket and I have to agree that it might run a little on the small size. I'm 5'11" and 170lbs and purchased a XL and it fits just right and if I had to layer I could. I wore it for the first time today,1/5/19 in rainy but mild temperature 40 degree weather in Connecticut. Water did bead up but it wasn't raining that hard. The material "Polartec" is also in the Outdoor Research Ascendant Nimbus jacket and I liked that jacket so much until I purchased another one in a different color. I have worn the Ascendant Nimbus in colder weather and although the "Polartec" material in the Ascendant appears to be less than in the Alpenice it reassures me that the Alpenice will perform good in colder weather. I'm happy!

4.0 out of 5 stars. Great JacketReviewed by Bob G from northern NY on Thursday, December 27, 2018These coats are great at reducing bulk and the need for layering up. Don’t be fooled if you buy one of these and it appears not as thickly insulated as other typical cool weather gear.
I have worn this jacket in 26 degree weather with
Only a long sleeve smartwool 250 midweight shirt underneath. It kept me warm and comfortable. This type of insulation is designed to be most effective while your ,”active”. It seems to trap body heat while allowing moisture to escape. I usually wear a large but based on the reviews I went up one size (xl) ,and it fit perfectly. I gave 4 stars because I feel the sizing is off but the performance is definitely 5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars. OR sizing of their Alpha insulated jacketsReviewed by JNW from Northwest Interior on Friday, November 9, 2018this jacket checks off the right boxes with design and technical fabrics.
Except sizing.
I have a more conventional insulated OR jacket in xl that fits great.
This "active" jacket in xl is a full 2" smaller in circumference around the chest.
I have found the other OR jackets with polartec alpha also to be tight fitting. Not so much slim, there is plenty in the abdomen, just tight across the front of the chest.
Great value, but only if it fits.
