It's a modern cut with tapered legs. Style-wise, it has the skinny jean look. Looks good at the office or around town. The material is very light, synthetic, and stretchy. They are great for spring and even summer weather.
Climbing-wise: I climbed again in them just last night. Those pants don't get in the way of my climbing. High steps, stemming, heel hooks... no issues (I didn't try doing a split because I can't do a split). I didn't hear any fabric ripping (it has happened before). The stretchy material absorbed everything I threw at it.
Fit: I usually wear a Small with waist size 28-30 (5ft8, 135lbs). I've got skinny legs. I could get in the 28, but my wife said it looked like leggings. The size 30 fit great in the legs, but I have to throw on a belt. So overall, I'd recommend. I'm not surprised that Black Diamond is offering this high quality product; that's what they are known for. At the STP price, it's hard to pass. Those pants will make you look good at the gym/crag and in the streets. That alone will make you climb a grade harder. Enjoy!
