5.0 out of 5 stars. great fain pants

I had previously some inexpensive rain pants, thinking "how great do rain pants have to be after all?". Well, found out. The ones from Sierra Trading Post by Marmot are terrific. They have everything that makes sense from being able to tighten around the ankles, ankle zips to get ankles over boots, to extra pockets and fit perfectly over existing jeans or pants. They are a bit long for me (I'm 5'4") and I ended up ordering a medium even though they recommended a large for size 12 and they fit perfectly. Wore them yesterday and they were comfortable, kept me dry. worth the extra money to get something that's quality and works.

These are for you. Took these backpacking and it rained every day. The precip pants were key in keeping dry and warm. Light weight and very packable. They easily went over my leggings and my zip off hiking pants. Easy to get in and out of.

These fit true to size - no need to size up in order to put them on over other pants. Lightweight. Zippers at the bottom so you can get them on over boots and a easy pull cord to cinch tight at the bottom. Haven’t tried them yet in warmer weather, so I can’t speak to how breathable they will be.

I love these pants for the zippered pockets and extra layer over my reg pants. I wear them for dragon boat paddling and no longer have the cold wet bum!! Highly recommend

This Is my second pair. 20 years later still wearing the first pair. Got a second pair for the convenience of having to put a pair in my daypack and a second pair in my overnight to weeklong backpack.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Waterproof

These pants are definitely waterproof. They were not super big, but did allow for a base layer underneath. There are a tad long for me, I am 5'6, but they worked just fine with my hiking boots.

About Marmot

Conceived in a university dorm room by a pair of climbing buddies, Marmot Mountain Works first opened its doors in the spring of 1974 in Grand Junction, Colorado. At the time, the base of operations was a 100-year-old stone building. That same year, the first Marmot down jacket was produced specifically for an action flick called “The Eiger Sanction,” starring legendary actor Clint Eastwood. In the four decades since, Marmot has continued to engineer reliable gear that exceeds the expectations of outdoor athletes. Today, Marmot tents, backpacks, outerwear, clothing and Marmot sleeping bags are still pushing the limits in the planet’s most challenging conditions, from the summits of the world’s highest mountains to the deepest river basins.
