I've worn this jacket a couple times in rainy weather, including once in a drenching downpour, and it's kept me dry. Very light weight and reasonably breathable, the Essence jacket moves easily while hiking and climbing. Expensive but easily one of the best in its class.
I used this product only briefly as it simply didn't do the job - and for $174 I would have expected much better from Marmot! We had multiple days of rain (off and on) from July 5 to July 12 in the Wyoming Big Horn mountains. I just purchased and took on a 6-day hike in the Wyoming Big Horns. We had mild rain off and on. On the first use, and under mild rain condition, definitely not a torrential downpour, the jacket allowed water to seep through - and the leakage was not through the zippers. Great UL rain jacket. Has athletic fit. Got the xxl, I am 6'1 240 and it fits perfect. Good windblocker, seams taped. Haven't been in a bad downpour in it yet. Packs up into self, get one from CampSaver now!
