I ended up returning this jacket, but only for one reason. The shoulders were very boxy and huge on me and I don't have small shoulders. I could've kept the jacket but the cut of the shoulders was so unflattering that I had to send it back. Other than the shoulders, this jacket seems super warm, soft, and everything you would want in the backcountry. I'm sad that it didn't ... Read more

I live in Interior Alaska where the temperatures are COLD! Last January, daytime temperatures casually remained around -20F for the entire month. I needed a jacket that would be warm enough to get outside in (shoveling, using the outhouse, walks, hikes) but wasn't as big and bulky as those mushing parkas rated for -60F. Super cozy. Fits great. I have had many heavy winter jackets living in Idaho. Most don't seem like they are cut for women, but this one fits amazing! Very warm! Plenty of pockets and a nice tall collar for warmth.

I own the men's version of the Lightline Jacket and am very happy with it. Previously, Mountain Equipment's women's "version" was a long coat that came down to the news and would not be suitable for backpacking. When I checked recently, however, they had added a women's version comparable to the men's but tailored and sized to a woman's shape. I happily got the coat for my wife... Read more

I was so confused by all the new "puffy" jackets made of unobtanium which might or might not keep me warm depending on how many layers I have with me. I know what to expect from this. I'm 5'6" and 140 lbs, and the medium fits great. Just a little past my hips, and the sleeves are long enough.... I like it. I only give four stars because it takes a winter to test it.
