4.0 out of 5 stars. Not perfect but pretty good

I've been in search of a winter coat that's ultra warm. The positives for this coat: The omni-heat interior is nice and smooth, slides easily over clothing (I'm not really convinced that it reflects body heat as it is supposed to, but it has a nice feel and looks cool), nice thumb hole liners at wrist, no trouble with 2-way zipper. I like having so many zipped pockets to hold everything from phone and keys to kleenex and gloves without worrying they'll fall out. I like that it should be completely waterproof, though I haven't had the chance to test it out yet. The negatives? It fits rather snug. I'm always a medium in coats (I'm a size 6-8 on top and 10 on bottom. 5'6" and 145 lbs) I got a medium and I think I wish I had gotten a large. It fits well with a long sleeve tee but with additional layer such as a fleece or a hoodie it feels too snug and constricting, especially through the hips and seat. I don't like that the collar area is very stiff, so whether it's zipped up or partway down, the top of the collar/zipper is always poking me in the chin. Personally I don't like the underarm pit zips. They feel weird under my arms and I don't anticipate ever being so hot that I would want to unzip them for ventilation. And I wouldn't rate it as high as I'd hoped for warmth, especially since there isn't adequate roominess for layering. Yesterday I wore it just for a short time taking my dog for a walk in 27 degrees and I was starting to feel cold permeating my upper arms. I don't think I'd be warm enough in subzero temps. So, while I think this coat will be good for those chilly rain/sleet/wet slushy snow days in the 30's to keep me dry, my search continues for an ultrawarm coat that can keep me warm enough when New England gets our below-zero polar vortex winter days. This coat was worth the clearance price but certainly not worth the original $650.00 price tag.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice jacket but dysfunctional zipper

I soooooo wanted to love this jacket after purchasing and falling in love with the coordinating ski pants. Sadly, the jacket I received seemed to have a defective zipper - it took me over a dozen attempts to get it zipped, and that's not something I want to be struggling with during a day on the slopes with family and friends. Aside from the zipper issue, I liked the styling - especially the slightly elongated back, providing extra coverage, and the numerous pockets, functional powder skirt and overall athletic aesthetic. If you get one with a functional zipper, this could be the jacket you're looking for!
