It is slick and a bit shiny, but very soft and comfortable! They were a bit of an impulse buy, and I do not regret it! They fit snug like a yoga pant. I'm 5'3" and the length was just right for me too, which hardly ever happens.

The waist band does fold over leaving a bit of bulk but not bad since the band sits below the waist line. The fabric is ultra stretchy and tends to cling at times. The material is good for yoga, aerobics, stretching and I suppose other sports that include lots of bending. The length is good past my ankles. For the discounted price they are great for exercise. Comfortable!!

I don't quite understand why the reviewer was so negative. But I was surprised to learn that these are intended for climbing! I would think that would ruin the fabric, but then it is a special type, "polymide" with which I have had no prior experience. You can't see it in the photo, but the pant legs are silky looking. I have no quarrel with the wide banded knit waist as it does what was intended, provide give while one is bending, etc. I have no plans to rock climb so I guess I could wear these just for casual outings, or even semi dressy occasions if it weren't for the logo printed on the upper side of one leg - maybe a tunic would work? As I mentioned, they are unusual. Oh, I bought a size Medium and they fit although they are bit long. But because the leg opening is narrow, the length works for me. I am 5' 3" tall and weigh 136 lbs.

Weird pantsReviewed by drumlinds from Frisco, CO on Wednesday, September 14, 2016I was expecting these pants to be something I could wear climbing or just casually, but I wouldn't wear them in any situation. Most of the material is a flowing, stretchy synthetic, but the waist band is huge (maybe 4-5 inches?) and seemingly made of a ribbed cotton material. It's VERY high-waisted - if I didn't fold it down it fully covered my belly button, and when I folded it down it was very bulky. I wore them for less than thirty seconds when trying them on - they were an immediate no. Sorry La Sportiva, but I honestly don't know what you would wear these for. (For sizing: I'm 5'8"/135 pounds and the medium fit well.)
