The fabric is surprisingly soft, but not too thin like some outdoorsy fabrics can be. The fit is generous which skims over my curvy butt/hips (if you prefer a trim fit, this isn't it). I like wearing them with the leg openings pushed up by my knees. I'd buy another pair in a different color if they had them in my size.
