5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for backpackingVerified Buyer Reviewed by Exploring Michigander from Michigan on Friday, February 23, 2018High pockets make them accessible with a pack on. Bought a Large. Fit is long in the torso and arms (as expected), great across chest and shoulders, and roomy but not baggy in the midsection for me (5’8”,195, 43”chest, 34”sleeve and waist). The only brand that fits my frame better is Marmot, typically with a slightly shorter sleeve length and torso than both Mountain Hardware and Outdoor Research.

This is a very nice fleece, windproof....tested and passed! Warm......tested and passed! Nice fit without alot of bulk.....passed! All in all this is a great addition to my hiking gear.

2.0 out of 5 stars. Strange materialVerified Buyer Reviewed by Jmt from Mammoth lakes CA on Monday, February 5, 2018Weird polyester 70's track suit feeling. Sizing was on the large side. Blue color more of a dull blue than turquoise.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great technical fleeceVerified Buyer Reviewed by JM from NYC on Saturday, December 30, 2017Have the previous version, got this as a gift for my bro. Still well made, excellent materials. The chest pockets have been raised, and the pit zips removed: the forner is great for access with a pack on, the latter is a downgrade. Always have liked the jacket's thinner windstopper materials as they produce less weight and bulk.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Size was offVerified Buyer Reviewed by Doug_O from Washington on Tuesday, September 26, 2017Had one of the tech jackets when they used to be gore wind stopper and had the pit zips. Loved the jacket but lost it; hope this jacket is similar for warmth. I ordered a large which I normally get but had to return it for a medium since it was way too big. Have had many Mountain Hardware jackets and pants and have never been let down.

4.0 out of 5 stars. What I expect from Mountain HardwareVerified Buyer Reviewed by UnderTheRadar from Illinois on Saturday, March 4, 2017Purchased this to replace similar but slightly different Mountain Hardware jacket that I have used for several years. My current jacket starting to show wear in the elbows so decided to replace it. The two jackets look very similar.
This jacket has pockets that are placed for harness or backpack which is further back than normal. Hand warmer pockets also lack a storm flap which allows some air transfer in high wind. Jacket lacks pit zips, but the hand warmer pockets do vent heat OK, which is good and bad. I believe ,but not certain, the pocket is not airshield so an open pocket transfers heat, wind and likely water. Vent heat when desired is good. But pockets zips from top so when you want to place hand into pocket the pocket must be fully open (25cm/10in zip) which is loosing heat, could be bad.
Chest pocket does have a storm flap and is good size (10cm/6in square). Perhaps too wide since my sunglasses will drop to bottom and rest sideways.
Fine job of blocking wind for a fleece but does not stop wind. Arms and yoke do well with shedding rain. Fleece front and back will hold water but keep water out.
I found the sleeves and length just a bit longer than expected. Chest and waist is sized about what I would expect. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Not perfect, but...Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from New Mexico on Sunday, February 12, 2017Wanted a wind-proof fleece jacket for less than a hundred bucks. This is one of a few choices that I found, and overall I'm happy with it.
Most of the criticisms I've read seem valid, but don't bother me. I have a 16-1/4 inch neck; zipped up the fit there is snug but comfortable, and provides excellent neck-sulation. It is a little roomy in the abdomen and snug at the pits, but not grossly so. I wear an "L" in most jackets, and this fit was acceptable. I like the high side pockets.
I'm not fond of ostentatiously branded merchandise. This one screams its MH logo, making that my least favorite feature. But the price was right so whattaya gonna do? -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Great jacketVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Illinois on Monday, January 2, 2017I bought this jacket as a Christmas present for my father. He and my mother are moving back to the upper Midwest after living the last 10 years full-time in Florida. He loves this jacket for its warmth and versatility. It is well-made and the green is, believe it or not, a nice neutral color.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Great jacket, weird pocketsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Amanda from Tennessee on Sunday, January 1, 2017My son loved this jacket. There was on drawback in that the pockets are on the side about where his ribcage is. Just very awkward placement for a jacket. North Face did a great job on construction just not design. Still a nice jacket though.
