Most Helpful 5-Star Review

5.0 out of 5 stars. great, lightweight jacket!

For those who might be skeptical about this jacket's warmth, despite its very light weight: it is warm. I first tested it walking the dog 4 miles at 5 degrees F (-9 degrees F windchill) the morning after it arrived. It kept me warm throughout the walk. I would probably wear it as a mid layer in extreme cold (-25 to -40 F), but for this northern Minnesota woman, it's performed well in temperatures down to -7 F (-19 F windchill).

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Packable and warm

I really enjoyed this purchase! I am 5'2, 115 pounds and got this in a Small. I find it a snug fit with room for a thin sweater or shirt underneath. There are other reviews that complain you can see the feathers through the jacket but its not something I mind and that I actually like. Otherwise the jacket would be a huge pool of bright hot pink. Makes for an interesting jacket.

True to size. Warm, but not enough for cold winter days and nights (below 30*F), but I do run cold...though it would be perfect with a decent shell (I have yet to purchase). You can see the feathers through the fabric. However, for the sale price...it was so worth it.

It’s super comfy, the pockets are large and have a zipper. I was only disappointed that it didn’t have a hood.

This jacket is really warm and light. The cut is great that won't be any bad influences for action.

I loved the color and the fit of the jacket, but did not like that the "stuffing" was so easily visible - which you can't tell at all from the picture.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
